NRM, the industry’s leading independently owned gaming technology and software solutions provider, has underlined its commitment to charity partner, CHIPS by nominating finance director, Kelly Roberts, to become the organisation’s ‘CHIPS Champion’.
Roberts’ remit is to help create and co-ordinate a range of money generating initiatives to fund the purchase of a powered wheelchair and in the process help change the life of a local youngster.
Commenting on the role Roberts said “I am looking forward to co-ordinating what will be a fun programme of large and small events and achieving our goal. In terms of head count, we’re certainly not the biggest company in the industry but I like to think we are one of the most committed and most importantly one of the most creative, qualities that will most definitely come in extremely useful as the campaign gets into full swing.”
She added: “We’ve got together as a team and generated some great fundraising ideas. We are kicking-off with the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge which is an attempt to climb the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in one go under 12 hours. It’s an exciting but ‘doable’ challenge which looks great fun and obviously involves a lot of dedication, team spirit and hard graft. Six of the NRM team, including MD Andrew Ludlow, are preparing to take part and we’ll be reaching out to suppliers and customers as well as friends and family to try and raise as much money as possible for our fantastic charity partner, CHIPS. The mantra we use at NRM is ‘whatever it takes’ and I want that philosophy and outlook to underpin all of our activities particularly when the going might get a little tough!”
CHIPS was founded by the UK gaming industry and raises funds to purchase bespoke powered wheelchairs for children for whom the NHS cannot help. Since its formation in 2001, CHIPS has raised more than £2m, a sum that has purchased in excess of 500 wheelchairs, helping to transform the lives of children and their families the length and breadth of the country.
